They were nabbed on Monday after the relatives of the woman, Margret Sangatafu reported the matter to the police.

The suspects are said to have netted the slain, identified as Sangatafu, when she went to collect her money on Sunday evening.

The deceased’s brother in law Francis Makokha told journalists that the late met her death when she pursued her death from the Bumula, Bungoma South based suspects.

''My sister in law left her house on Sunday at around 3 pm after having lunch and went to ask for her two hundred shillings from the neighbour. The man, however turned against her with his friends and raped her. They later killed her and dumped her body in a sugarcane plantation,'' Makokha said.

Residents have condemned the incident and called on the law enforcers to ensure the suspects are arraigned.

Two year ago, 72-year-granny was raped and murdered at Bochari village, Masaba South sub-county in Kisii.

Reports indicate an attacker broke into Teresa Manyara's house through the roof, a few minutes after midnight, while his gang members waited outside.

He reportedly wrestled with Manyara and raped her, before hacking her to death with a panga while the accomplices, whom he later let in, guarded the house.
