First Lady Margaret Kenyatta receives President Uhuru Kenyatta after competing in the Beyond Zero Half Marathon

President Uhuru Kenyatta took part in the First Lady’s Beyond Zero Half Marathon for the first time in history.

This was in fulfillment of a promise he made in 2019 that he will be on the race track in the 2020 edition of the Beyond Zero Half Marathon.

The president participated in the 2.6KM race and finished in 30Minutes, 50.1 seconds.

He ran the race in the company of other dignitaries who graced the event and put up a strong show, enduring the fatigue to cross the finish lie at Nyayo National Stadium.

Among those who were present at the event are Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko and Wiper party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka.

Uhuru crossed the finish line and was received by First lady Margaret Kenyatta.

Beyond Zero is an initiative of the first lady Margaret Kenyatta that was launched in January 2014.

It was inspired by the realization and knowledge that maternal and children deaths are preventable.

In 2014, First Lady Margaret Kenyatta was named the United Nations in Kenya Person of the Year in recognition of her efforts to stop preventable maternal and newborn deaths in the country through her ‘Beyond Zero’ campaign.

The model has been hailed as a success story in raising awareness and funds to address the plight of women and children in need of quality healthcare.

The initiative has equipped several counties with mobile clinics to boost to achieve its noble objective.
