The President Uhuru Kenyatta, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and Nairobi governor Mike Sonko were conspicuously missing at the wedding between Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu’s daughter Monica Njeri to Herman Nyotu Gitau.

Deputy President William Ruto came through for his political ally and was the senior-most government official present with the Kenyatta family being represented by Mama Ngina Kenyatta and Muhoho Kenyatta.
It has since emerged that the three (President Kenyatta, Raila and Sonko) skipped the wedding as it coincided with other important engagements that were a priority.
Odinga was in Western Kenya for the final send-off of football legend Joe Kadenge.
The President on the other hand was in Dandora where he precided over the launch of the refurbished KCC factory.
He later on launched this year’s Ushirika Day celebrations, delivering a key-note speech at KICC where he lauded Kenya's cooperative movement for the invaluable role it has played in the country’s progress.
Nairobi governor Mike Sonko was accompanied the President during his engagements which saw him traverse the city, from Dandora to Upper hill and finally to KICC for the launch of Ushirika Day.
The two also made an impromptu visit to Kenya Railways Nairobi Terminal and Yard where the assessed ongoing revamp of the Nairobi railway commuter services.
