Why we prefer DP Ruto over Uhuru – Mt Kenya MPs speak out
Tanga tanga MPs spill the beans
On Tuesday, Nation quoted some of the MPs belonging to the famous Tanga Tanga squad explaining that their support to Ruto was as a result of his generosity and close rapport with elected leaders.
Many of the youthful MPs in Mt Kenyatta have shown more loyalty to the DP than to President Uhuru Kenyatta who is the perceived Mt Kenya kingpin.
“The President doesn’t pick our calls and does not give us any audience, while Ruto regularly invites us to his Karen home and supports us with money for fundraising and development projects,” one of the MPs stated.

The MP added that whenever various leaders visit the DP’s Karen residence, they are rewarded with reimbursements for fare and other expenses they incur.
In the past, Ruto’s allies in Mt Kenya have accused President Kenyatta of arrogance and looking down on some elected leaders.
Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri, a key member of the Tanga Tanga team, last year narrated an incident in August 2018 when Jubilee MPs met the President for a Parliamentary Group meeting at State House.
“It was a tense meeting as we fought to have our grievances heard. But he was very rude and even chased us out of State House. He nearly called us the word ku** as his father used to insult people, he reached half way and stopped,” the legislator recalled.
There have also been reports of youthful MPs engaging in fistfights while receiving cash for upcountry visits at the DP’s Karen residence.
