Nonsense! Ruto goes after Uhuru's newspaper

The weekend has not started well for the DP

William Ruto attacks Kenyatta-owned People Daily over story on clash with President Uhuru regarding BBI report

Deputy President William Ruto has in the recent past attacked all the leading newspaper over stories which he didn't like.

One national daily has hitherto been spared from attacks which he delivers through his Twitter handle.

On Friday, the Kenyatta'family owned People Daily joined the list of newspapers which the Deputy President has criticised over stories he didn't like.

The DP accused the People Daily of engaging in "nonsense" over a story appearing on its front page, predicting a political clash between Ruto and his boss - President Uhuru Kenyatta.

"NONSENSE. The politics of personality cults that breed negative ethnicity & division as it poisons our nation are primitive and beneath us. We will agree as Jubilee established as a national movement which elevate our discourse to the realm of IDEAS & ISSUES and not personality," he tweeted.

Past attacks have been extended to media owners, particularly when the DP is trolling the Standard newspaper owned by Baringo Senator Gideon Moi and his family.

However, the DP was careful not to mention the People Daily owners when criticizing their editorial decisions.

The story noted that Kenyatta's recent open support for the BBI was likely to open a war front with Ruto who has criticised the BBI as a failed project meant to reward individuals with political positions.

On Wednesday, President Kenyatta took a swipe at Ruto and his allies after he told a political rally that he would work with ODM Leader Raila odinga to make sure proposals made by BBI would sail through.

The BBI task force has completed the process of collecting views and its report is expected to be released in the coming days.
