Police reports indicated that the mother wrote a suicide note that stated she felt disappointed that she could not get the money to pay for the daughter as she joined secondary school.
The daughter who scored 396 marks during last year’s KCPE examinations, was called to join either Chogoria Girls or Machakos Girls High schools.
Further reports highlighted that the decision taken by the 37-year-old woman was as a result of a threat from the candidate.
The daughter had threatened to take her life if the family didn’t raise money to facilitate her schooling.
The body of the deceased that was found dangling from a tree, was moved to the Kitui Level Five hospital mortuary.
Area AP Commandant Aliphonce Anaswa noted that investigations into the matter had begun.
Father conned
In January last year, a man in Githurai identified as John Castrol Okombo, committed suicide after he failed to raise money to pay for his daughter’s secondary school fees.
Okombo left a suicide note indicating that a man he referred to as Oliver owed him Sh759,000 after he had conned him.
“Now a year and I can’t manage to take my daughter to Form One, Oliver.
“I can’t continue living while my daughter is crying to join school,” read a part of the note.
The deceased further indicated that the money should be given to his wife in order to pay for the fees.
