The tweet was a humble plea to the people asking for blood donation for one Grace Wangui who was in urgent need of blood type O- at Kikuyu Hospital.
What followed was a heartbreaking thread of tribal comments where various people disregarded the plea asking that Kenyans of Kikuyu origin be the ones to help.
Most highlighted the Kisumu killings that happened last month during the post elections period stating that while the people were being killed the others remained silent. (sic)
In this list of primitive, stereotype commenters were the Founder and President of Atheists In Kenya (AIK) Harrison Mumia who stated, “When Kikuyus need blood, we are one. But when Luos are being massacred, they are alone. Are we a nation? I submit that we are not.”
This of course was met with a lot of criticism with many asking that as much as he doesn’t believe in the existence of God then he should at least believe in humanity.
The comments sparked outrage with Kenyans calling for a united people stating that regardless of tribe, we are still one country and Grace's life matters.
