In response to a request by the police sleuthing Chris Msando's murder, the High Court on Monday issued an order to detain a 60-year-old suspect.

The elderly man in question, Andrew Rono, was detained for a week to allow more time for investigations to be done.

According to Nicholus ole Sena, a sergeant at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, Rono's arrest follows his possession of a mobile phone that was used to send the slain IEBC official threatening messages.

He was arrested on August 15th at his place of work at KenGen Headquarters in Parklands, Nairobi.

As the police slowly but surely work their way through the high profile case, Kenyans remain invested in seeing Msando's killers caught and sentenced. Chris' body was found in a bush alongside that of 21-year-old Caroline Gumbu in Kikuyu on July 31st.

Before his passing, the Independent Electoral Board and Commission ICT manager raised awareness at Central Police station of the threat messages he had been receiving on his personal mobile line.

Last week, a 17-year-old girl was also apprehended and detained at the Kiambu Juvenile Court after she was also caught with a phone that was used to send Chris threatening messages.
