Man docked for raping friend's 10-yr-old daughter

A middle-aged man has been charged before a court in Lagos State for allegedly raping his close friend's 10-year-old daughter.

A middle-aged man, Godwin Ita, has been arraigned before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting in Lagos State for allegedly raping the 10-year-old daughter of his friend.

Daily Post reports that Ita, a factory worker who resides at Balogun Street, Orile Agege, a suburb of Lagos, had gone to visit his friend who resides on at Jibowu Street in the same area and met the minor at home while her parents were out.

After ascertaining that she was the only one at home, Ita pulled the girl to the ground, tore off her clothes and forcefully had carnal knowledge of her, after which he warned her not to tell her parents or he would kill her.

The prosecuting police officer, Sergeant Rafael Donny, told the court presided by Chief Magistrate Badejo Okusanya, that the deed was uncovered by the mother of the victim when she came back and noticed that her daughter was walking awkwardly and on checking her private part, blood and bruises were noticed.

On interrogation, the girl narrated that her father's friend had come calling and had defiled her, leading to her parents reporting the case to the police.

When the charge was read to the suspect, he pleaded not guilty and Magistrate Okusanya admitted him to bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two sureties in like sum, while the case was adjourned to December 12.
