Owolabi, 44, a resident of association avenue, Ojota, Lagos is facing a one-count charge of stealing.

He was accused of stealing N3, 230, 000 from the company’s account.

The Prosecutor, Sgt. Lucky Ihiehie, told the court that the offence was committed between Sept. 2016 and April 4, 2017.

Ihiehie said the complainant, Ogebeh Frank, on behalf of the company, told the police that the accused is the manager of their Ojota branch.

“Sometime in August 2016, Owolabi was given N3,500, 000 to pay their landlord for the park rent but instead paid N2, 620, 000 and converted N880, 000 to his own use."

According to the complainant, he was asked to provide the payment receipt as requested by the management, all to no avail.

The complainant also stated that Owolabi also had a shortage of N2, 350,000 from the daily loading from the park and commission from daily accounts between January to April 8.

The prosecutor said the total money allegedly stolen from the company by Owolabi amounted to N3, 230, 000 and all efforts made to retrieve the money from him had proved abortive.

The prosecutor added that the offences committed contravened Sections 287(7) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the one-count charge.

The Magistrate, Mrs O. Sule-Amzat, admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two reliable sureties whose addresses must be verified.

The case was adjourned until July 4, for mention.
