Motorcyclist trying to make a U-turn gets crushed by trailer
The driver of the trailer who tried to flee the scene of the accident for fear of being lynched was apprehended by the police.
The accident which occurred in the morning of Thursday, April 27, 2017, is the latest in the series of road killings usually due to impatience of motorists.
Confirming the incident, Kehinde Adebayo, a spokesperson for the Lagos State Emergency Agency (LASEMA) said the driver of the trailer made a run for it but was later apprehended by police officers.
”Investigation conducted by the Agency’s ERT on getting to the scene of the incident revealed that a bike man was crushed under a trailer while trying to make a u-turn.
”The driver of the trailer absconded immediately the accident occurred but was later apprehended by the Police officers and was taken to Olosan Police Station, Mushin for further interrogation”.
”Unfortunately, the driver of the motorcycle identified as Biliaminu Olayiwola lost his life. His corpse was recovered by the LASEMA Response Team and handed over to the Police.
“The trailer was recovered off the road with a tow truck provided by LASTMA and moved to a safe place nearby thereby ensuring free vehicular movements,” Adebayo narrated.
To guide against a recurrence of such accident, LASEMA General Manager, Adesina Tiamiyu cautioned motorists to be careful while driving in order to guard against needless loss of lives.
Meanwhile, the corpse of the deceased, Biliaminu Olayiwola, has been removed from the accident scene and handed over to the police.
