23-yr-old Nigerian man stabbed to death

A post-mortem examination carried out on May 4 revealed that the young man died as a result of a single stab wound.

The deceased, Seun McMillan

Homicide detectives revealed that the 23-year-old was attacked in a playing field at Masefield, four miles away from his family home.

The Cable reports that Witnesses are said to have alerted the police after an argument reportedly ensued between a group of young men gathered in the park.

Lee Watling, detective chief inspector of the homicide and major crime command, said:

“We now believe Seun was stabbed in Cowper Gardens in Southgate and at that time there would have been a number of people there that had attended in cars,” , said.

“We are keen to speak to everyone who was there and would appeal for them to contact us.

“We would also appeal to anyone who saw what cars were in Cowper Gardens at the time of the incident to also contact us.

“We continue to appeal for any witnesses to the attack, or anyone with any information about it, to contact us.”

According to the reports, the police were called to Barnet Hospital on Tuesday that Seun had shown up at the hospital after suffering stab injuries. He was later pronounced dead.

The Cable reports that two men aged 27 and 25 respectively, were arrested in connection with the murder but have been released under investigation.

A tearful vigil with lit candles was held for the deceased by family and friends on Wednesday, May 3, while the police searched drains and underneath vehicles in a bid to find the murder weapon.

Speaking under anonymity, a cousin of Shea's, as the deceased was fondly called, said that he was a bubbly, normal guy and did not deserve to die the way he did.

“The last time I saw him at the park we were playing football, he loved it and played center back. I have no idea what happened to him,” he said.

“His mom is just trying to cope. Everybody knows him around here they all liked him. He was a popular guy.”

Seun's grandparents, in a note, said: “Such a wonderful and caring young man taken away from all of us family and friends. You will always be in our hearts forever, rest in peace.”

May the soul of the deceased rest in peace.
