Lupita ready to take 12 lashes for the Nairobi National Park

Oscar award winning actress, Lupita Nyong’o opposes the construction of the Standard Gauge Railway through the Nairobi National park.

 

Nairobi national park has a new international champion, a world class celebrity at such.

Oscar award winning actress Lupita Nyong’o has joined a long list of conservationists opposing the construction of the Standard Gauge Railway through the Nairobi National park.

The queen of Katwe cast voiced her concern through her Facebook Page, and called on Kenyans to join her in stopping the proposed construction through the oldest park in East Africa which was gazetted in 1946.

The award winning actress rallied Kenyans to immediately contact the National Environment Management Authority and air their opposition on the proposed construction.

The celebrated actress acknowledged though that the country needed a new railway but constructing it through the park was not the only available option.

She suggested constructing the rail around the park instead in order to minimize environmental degradation of the world class park.

Lupita joins a host of other local and international conservationists opposed to the Construction of the SGR through the park.

Activist, Omkiya Omtata has for instance even moved to court to stop the lunatic line from crossing the jewel of Nairobi.

There are over 400 species of birds in Nairobi National Park ranging from Zebra, Leopards, lions, Giraffes, Hippos, buffalo, antelopes, crocodiles, Cheetah and Gazelles.

Nairobi National Park and Nakuru National Park are the only parks which do not have elephants after they were transplanted to other parks to reduce Human – wildlife conflict.

The Nairobi National Park has a thriving rhino sanctuary, boosting the highest density of black rhino in the country.

as it seems now, Lupita may even be ready to take more than 12 lashes, if it would protect Nairobi National Park.
