Muranga governor, Mwangi wa Iria supporters clash with Kigumo MP, Jamleck Kamau supporters over a Stadium.

Muranga governor, Mwangi wa Iria Supporters yesterday clashed with Kigumo MP, Jamleck Kamau supporters over the use of a stadium in the county.

Irate supporters of Kamua, engaged in a scuffle and shouting match with Wa Iria supporters over the use of Mumbi stadium, which the kigumo MP wants to use on Saturday to launch his governors bid for Muranga.

According to Kigumo MP, Wa Iria has blocked him from using the stadium on Saturday next week, over false pretense of it undergoing renovation and repairs, to stop him from officially launching his bid to unseat him.

Wa Iria on the other hand through his supporters, claimed the stadium was under rehabilitation especially now that it is raining and they can go ahead and plant flowers, grass and do repairs etc.

However, in a news clip aired by Citizen TV, Kamau rubbished off the claims that Mumbi stadium was inaccessible because of the rehabilitation.

“Mumbi grounds is full of grass everywhere and unless someone is trying to put manure so that the grass can grow better, there will be no other reason apart from trying to stop me from going on with my meeting” furious Kamau stated.

Kamua had initially wanted to launch his manifesto at Ihura stadium, but the county government had successfully managed to block him claiming that they had already lined up another event at the same stadium on the same date.

Wa Iria and Kamau are bitter rivals and this is not the first time their supporters have clashed.

Early this year for instance, hell broke loose and the two leaders almost traded blows in a fundraising event in Maragua, Muranga County.

While fundraising for a local women’s Sacco, supporters of Mwangi wa Iria had earlier blocked the road leading to Murang’a town to prevent Mr Kamau from attending the function. Later on Jamleck Kamau accompanied by his wife Agnes Irungu arrived at the event first only for Wa Iria in a carefully orchestrated plan to storm the meeting accompanied by his supporters.

A fight eventually broke out, when one of Wa Iria’s supporters crossed over from his camp’s side to Kamau’s camp’s side, as he tried to hold a microphone for Murang’a women representative Sabina Chege who attended the event.
