The IEBC had for the past two weeks attempted to strike a deal between the two opposing camps but all the planned meetings were cancelled at the last minute.
In the first meeting NASA’s team led by presidential candidate Raila Odinga walked out of a planned meeting, protesting that the Jubilee team had kept them waiting for too long.
The second meeting was also cancelled at the last minute in unclear circumstances.
However, on Wednesday, both presidential candidates sent representatives with Siaya Senator James Orengo and Jubilee Chairman Raphael Tuju leading the respective teams.
IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati had initially invited the presidential candidates and their running mates but the commissioners appeared to be enthusiastic when they met Orengo and Tuju at the Bomas of Kenya.
The Opposition coalition has insisted on a number of demands which they have termed as “irreducible minimums”, failure to which they will not participate in the repeat polls slotted for October 26.
