NASA takes action after Chiloba's new role in IEBC

Hours after IEBC CEO Ezra Chiloba was picked for a new role ahead of the repeat presidential poll, NASA team led by Raila Odinga...

Speaking in Kibra, Nairobi County on Tuesday, NASA principals claimed that Chiloba was DP William Ruto's business partner adding they would not allow him to be part of the fresh election.

"IEBC is the thief that stole the elections on behalf of Jubilee. This is the Kibra Declaration. There will be no election on October 17 if our demands are not met. It will not happen. "we still maintain that we are not ready to participate if the people we mentioned are not fired. Nasa is opposed to Ezra Chiloba being part of the October elections,” Odinga stated. A section of NASA leaders threatened to hold protests until Chiloba was fired from the Electoral body. The Opposition's sentiments came hours after IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati picked Chiloba to spearhead the new team to oversee the presidential election.

"The CEO has been tasked to assess the implementation challenges that were experienced during the General Election and propose a project implementation framework that is aligned with the existing organisational structure,” Chebukati told journalists on Monday after Naivasha retreat. The commissioners vowed to work together to ensure free and fair election ahead of the polls.A storm is now brewing between the Opposition and the electoral body over the latter's decision on Chiloba. On Tuesday, a scheduled meeting between IEBC, Jubilee, and NASA failed to take place after Opposition leaders stormed out of anniversary towers claiming Jubilee leaders had failed to show up.

A few minutes after NASA leaders left, DP Ruto arrived and said that Jubilee had convened a meeting as his reason for arriving late.Ruto exuded confidence that the electoral body would convene a meeting with all parties and iron out issues of contention.
