IEBC Commissioners have received death threats- Raila

Raila also revealed that the security detail of the commissioners have been withdrawn.

Speaking during a press briefing on Friday at the Okoa Kenya Offices in Lavington, Raila said some of the commissioners have received death threats from the government.

"The situation is getting grave right now. Some of them are receiving life threatening mails by the government. We are in a very dangerous situation at the moment in this country," Raila added.

The NASA leader also revealed he had information that some of the commissioners have also had their security detail withdrawn.

Four commissioners on Wednesday September 6, opposed the new team selected by IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati to oversee  the fresh presidential elections claiming that they were not aware and that they only found out about the new team after they were picked.

In the hard-toned memo, Chebukati demanded tough answers from Chiloba on what went wrong in the August 8 presidential elections.

In the leaked memo Chebukati wanted to know among others why his password was allegedly used to access the results transmission system.

Chebukati also demanded  to know why the satellite phones bought by the IEBC were not used to relay data from polling stations as it was supposed to be.

Chiloba in the letter is asked to explain why the Kenya Integrated Elections Management System (KIEMS) kits used in the election were not locked to specific locations as it had been agreed.

The Chair also raised questions why some forms used in the election did not have security features as agreed between IEBC and the printer.

On Thursday, Raila said the memo vindicated their court petition which saw the Supreme Court nullify President Uhuru Kenyatta's win.
