James Orengo urgent request to Obama’s official days to election
Do it now sir!
In a tweet Orengo stated that John Kerry, who was the head of the Carter Center’s mission during the much disputed General Election, should speak after the Supreme Court annulled President Kenyatta’s re-election.
Orengo challenged Kerry as he was on the front line to applaud the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) for conducting a free and fair election.
According to the Senior Counsel, it was imperative for the former Secretary of state to comment on the issue.
This comes at a time when Chief Observer of the European Union Election Observation Mission Marietje Schaake called for investigations and possible prosecution of IEBC officials for electoral malpractices that marred elections.
In a statement, EU divulged that it was important for transparency.
“There have to date not been any investigations against senior public officers who have reportedly breached the law. Some stakeholders have questioned the ability of the ODPP to challenge more senior leaders.
“Fast, comprehensive and effective investigations are needed so that there is individual accountability for actions taken,” the statement read in part.
The NASA team and Mr Kerry have been at loggerheads over the just concluded election, with the former firmly stating that it was marred with irregularities and illegalities.
The Opposition proved this at the Supreme Court where the presidential elections were annulled.
