“For us to have a chance of qualifying for the 2019 AFCON we will have to win all our home games. The friendlies are good for the team and with the kind of opposition that we have been against, I think we are headed into the right direction,” said Okumbi
Okumbi is optimistic that his boys will make it to the 2019 African Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
Stanley Okumbi has managed to handle Harambee stars in 10 unbeaten run that has seen him gain confidence in his team. But despite this Okumbi is not a happy man all.
“It is a good run, but still I am not happy because there are games like in Uganda and Zambia which we would have won. We still need to work more especially ensuring that we keep clean sheets. The beauty is that we are scoring and if we can ensure we defend better, we are in for a good run, “Said Okumbi.
Kenya will begin their journey to Cameroon with a clash away to Sierra Leone on week of 5 - 13 June 2017; the only qualifying clash in 2017 for Stanley Okumbi's charges as the team will then have to wait until 2018 for the second qualifying match in the Group where they will be hosting Ghana between March 19-27, 2018.
The last edition of African Cup of Nations was taken by Côte d'Ivoire with Ghana coming in as the Runners up.
