Reports indicate that his car rammed into a tractor that was ferrying sugarcane and which apparently had no working reflectors nor lights.
According to George Kinuthia a die hard fan of Nzoia United who spoke to Plive.co.ke, the coach is fairing on well after the fatal accident.
“We are glad that Mwalala is well after the accident, as he managed to attend our match against Western Stima,” George said
He added that Mwalala’s cousin was the one hurt in the fatal accident but as per now he is also fairing on well and out of hospital.
Bernard Mwalala helped Nzoia united to climb to the Kenya Premier League while at the top of the National Super League.
Mwalala is a former Nzoia United FC Striker. He has also played for Uganda's SC Villa and Tanzania's Young African and Coastal Union. He is a former Kenyan International.
At Coastal Union, he was assistant to former Nzoia coach, Yusuf Chipo. He will be assisted by Vincent Sifuma who has been handling the side on an acting basis.
Currently Nzoia Sugar United are setting at the 7 position in the SportPesa Premier League.
Nzoia Sugar United won over Western Stima in their past show that went down on April 26.
The Bernard Mwalala coached side are set to face their fellow sugarcane planters Sony Sugar on the 29 of April.
Poster rangers are on the top of the table, followed by Gor Mahia, Sofapaka and AFC Leopards.
