Ancelotti lists reasons Benzema must win Ballon d'Or after UEFA Super Cup victory

Ancelotti says Karim Benzema is meant to be the next Ballon d'Or winner but he knows that anything can happen in football.

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has tipped his French striker Karim Benzema to win the 2022 Ballon d'Or award.

The Italian tactician stressed the important role that Benzema has played in Real Madrid's recent success as the Los Blancos picked up the 2022 UEFA Super Cup trophy on Wednesday night.

Champions League winners Real Madrid defeated Europa League champions Eintracht Frankfurt by a 2-0 scoreline to clinch the UEFA Super Cup title at the Helsinki Olympic Stadium in Finland.

Benzema played a significant role in Wednesday's victory, scoring Real Madrid's second goal of the night that guaranteed the victory for the Spanish giants.

While giving post-match comments, Ancelotti stated that Benzema is fully deserving of the 2022 Ballon d'Or because Real Madrid's success has been dependent on the French striker.

According to Todup, Ancelotti said: He is a very important player, a team leader, we are here on his own merit and his, he has scored many goals.

The former AC Milan and Chelsea manager went on to also praise Benzema's consistency, pointing out that the Frenchman was in form last season and he has also picked up from where he left.

"He has finished the season well and has started it well and no one has any doubt that Benzema should win the Ballon d'Or. I think no one has any doubt, but in football anything can happen," Ancelotti said.

After winning both the La Liga and the Champions League during the 2021/22 season, Benzema would be looking forward to repeating the feat during the 2022/23 season.
