More action over the weekend as the Kenya cup hits semi final stage

Homeboyz finished in the first position after the regular season was completed with a total of 69 points earning themselves a home semifinal.

Kabras cruised to the semifinal last weekend edging out hosts Resolution Impala Saracens 21-18. The last time these two met was on 4 March where Homeboyz beat Kabras 34-22 at the same venue.

The second semifinal sees KCB RFC host Sportpesa Quins at the Ruaraka Grounds. Quins survived a Mwamba comeback scare last weekend at the RFUEA as the match ended 32-31 with Quins proving to be superior. They head out to Thika Road to meet their hosts in what will be a vengeance seeking match for the Quins who lost to KCB on the 18 of March at the RFUEA grounds. KCB came from a 15-26 score to win the match 29-26 on the said date.


Catholic Monks finished top of the Championship log earning them a home semifinal where they will host Mombasa RFC. In last weekend’s semifinal, Mombasa proceeded to the semifinal having beaten hosts Kisumu RFC 15-8 in the playoffs at the ASK Mamboleo Showgrounds.

This weekend, Mombasa travel back to Nairobi for the semifinal battle aiming at securing a slot in the finals.

Resolution Kisii RFC who came in second after the final round of the regular season will host USIU at the Gusii stadium. USIU cruised into the semifinals last weekend where they registered a 63-7 score over the visiting South Coast Pirates. The Dennis Mwanja charges make the journey to Kisii looking to get to the finals.

The two winners in these matches both get promoted to the Kenya Cup league come 2017/2018 season.


The KCB Cubs finished top of the ESS log at the end of the regular season earning them a home semifinal this weekend. The Cubs will be hosting Mwamba II at the den. Mwamba’s proceeded to the semis after they beat hosts Homeboyz RFC II 22-18 last weekend at Jamuhuri.

KCB Cubs lost only one match throughout their regular season in the hands of Mwamba II at Railways Grounds. When the two met on the 25 in their last match before the playoffs, the cubs proved to be better beating Mwamba 19-14.

Resolution Impala Saracens finished second on the ESS log and will host the Sportpesa Quins II (Arturos) for their semifinal. Last weekend, the Arturos welcomed Kabras II to a 30-11 FT score at the RFUEA.

In the ESS league, this will be the ever so entertaining Ngong Road Derby that most people love to witness
