#Kenya7s Tough road for Shujaa as they fight to defend the Singapore title

It will be recalled that Shujaa won last year’s Singapore Sevens with a 30-7 win over Fiji in the cup final on Sunday April 16.

Shujaa will look to mount a successful Singapore Sevens title defense come next weekend. They have been drawn in Pool C with Australia, Argentina and Samoa.

Hong Kong Sevens winners Fiji are in Pool A with Canada, Russia and Hong Kong while Pool B features South Africa, England, France and Japan. Pool D comprises USA, New Zealand, Scotland and Wales.

It will be recalled that Shujaa won last year’s Singapore Sevens with a 30-7 win over Fiji in the cup final on Sunday April 16.

Kenya Sevens ended their Hong Kong Sevens campaign with a 21-19 defeat by Scotland in the Challenge Trophy final on April 9 in Hong Kong.

However, Kenya, who had beaten Japan 24-17 in the quarterfinal and Russia 24-5 in the semi-finals, got seven points to see them climb one place to 11th place with 47 points in the World Rugby Sevens Series standings.

Shujaa ended their Pool B fixtures at the Hong Kong Sevens on a high, posting a 29-12 win over France at the Hong Kong Stadium on Saturday.

It was a sweet revenge for Fiji, who had lost to South Africa in the final in Dubai, Wellington and Las Vegas. South Africa, who also won in Sydney stretched their Series lead to 145 points as Fiji closed in on 122 points.
