KPL review Tusker go top as Gor Mahia drop

  • Published:

Gor Mahia suffered a humiliating defeat at the hands of Sofapaka to pave way for Tusker on the log.

Defending champions Tusker raced past Gor Mahia to get hold of the Kenyan Premier League summit after round 14.

The Brewers secured one point against newbies Kariobangi Sharks from a goalless draw registered on Sunday at Machakos County Stadium to add their points-tally to 28, one above Gor Mahia.

K’Ogalo, under stand-in coach Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno, failed to maintain their lead after going down 2-0 to Sofapaka at Meru’s Kinoru Stadium on the same day. Striker Ezekiel Okare and new signing Timothy Luda scored one goal apiece to shock the SportPesa Super Cup champions.

Ulinzi Stars also recorded a 1-1 draw against Sony Sugar to move third on the table with 25 points. Stephen Waruru scored in the 61st minute to cancel out Amos Asembeka’s 22nd minute goal.

On Saturday, AFC Leopards failed to overcome Mathare United at Nyayo Stadium walking home with a single point at position 12 on the log.

Posta Rangers were also held to a 2-2 draw against Thika United at Thika Sub-county Stadium as Chemelil Sugar beat Nzoia Sugar 2-1 at Chemelil Sports Complex.

Bandari and Western Stima registered a barren draw at Mbaraki Sports club while the match between Kakamega Homeboyz and Zoo Kericho reaped the most number of goals. They walked home with a single point each from a 3-3 draw at Mumias Sports complex.
