The battle, popularly known as the Mashemeji derby, will be played on Sunday August 27 at Kasarani Stadium and every fan is preparing to watch their teams.

The respective teams are also in intense preparation with the aim of emerging winners on that day. Gor Mahia won the first leg by a 3-0 margin in May and AFC Leopards will definitely go to the match with a revenge mission.

Since then, a number of changes have been made in both clubs worth mentioning ahead of their last meeting of the year. And this makes the match a must-watch event for all fans.

AFC Leopards have lost two key players in striker Gilbert Fiamenyo, who is nursing his injury in Ghana and midfielder Bernard Mang’oli, who left to Sofapaka in June transfer.

They will also face the derby with new players notable being Burundian Alexis Kitenge, Majid Victor, Ray Omondi, Musa Mudde and Ugandan Keziron Kizito. Vincent Oburu, who never featured in the first leg due to transfer issues is also available this time round.

Also on the technical bench, Robert Matano is now the head coach contrary to the first leg where Englishman Stewart Hall was in charge. Former Muhoroni Youth coach Gilbert Selebwa has also since replaced Tony Lidonde as the team manager.

In Gor Mahia, not much has changed but they now have a new head coach in Dylan Kerr from England. He replaced Brazilian Ze Maria, who joined Albanian outfit KF Tirana in the same capacity.

In their playing unit, Boniface Omondi from Nzoia Sugar is the key addition, who stands a good chance of making his debut in a Mashemeji derby.
