The weekend of Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 showcased some nerve-racking experience in football and rugby.

Attention of everyone is directed to four scenarios which left fans either happy or sad after the respective matches.

On Saturday, Sony Sugar whipped Kenyan Premier League counterparts Bandari FC 3-1 to book a slot in the 2017 Gotv Shield’s semifinal stage.

On Sunday, defending champions Tusker crashed out of the tournament at the hands of minnows Vihiga United at Nyayo National Stadium.

Charles Okwemba and Dennis Lugalia scored once apiece in either half to hand the National Super League outfit a 2-0 win against the KPL champions.

At the same venue, AFC Leopards, stepped up to drub National Super League club Wazito FC 7-1 with striker Alexis Kitenge hitting a hat-trick.

In the world of rugby, Kenya’s Simbas hosted Hong Kong at the RFUEA ground where they battled to a 19-19 draw. Kenya’s fight in trying to collect maximum points at home ended in vain as the visitors thwarted major efforts by the Jerome Paarwater charges.

So far, Sony Sugar, Kariobangi Sharks, Vihiga United and AFC Leopards have sailed to the Gotv Shield semis.

The Kenya national rugby 15’s team also has a redeeming chance since they will play against Hong Kong again on Saturday August 26 at the same venue (RFUEA).
