There are three Nigerian players in the French Ligue 1, two of which are forwards, Moses Simon and Terem Moffi who both have more league goals than Lionel Messi this season.
Lionel Messi outscored by two Nigerian forwards in Ligue 1 this season
Moses Simon and Terem Moffi have both scored more league goals than the great Lionel Messi this season.
When Lionel Messi joined PSG in the summer, the general expectation was that he would dominate the French Ligue 1 just as he did La Liga for so many years but after 18 games, that has not been the case at all.
Messi has only scored two league goals so far this season meaning he currently sits joint-94th on the French Ligue 1 scorers table.
Of the 93 players to have scored more Ligue 1 goals than Messi this season, two are Nigerian, Moses Simon and Terem Moffi who play for significantly worse clubs compared to PSG.
Moses Simon plays for Nantes who are currently in seventh-place on the table, 23 points and 23 goals behind PSG but the Super Eagles winger still has managed to score one more goal than Lionel Messi.
Simon has played 23 games this season and scored three goals which is in itself not particularly impressive but still better than the 'GOAT' apparently.
Terem Moffi on the other hand plays for a team battling relegation, Lorient currently sits 17th, 38 points and 34 goals behind Messi's PSG.
Despite those limitations, Moffi has managed to double the Messi's league tally so far with four goals despite himself enduring a well-publicised goal drought this season.
Terem Moffi scored 14 Ligue 1 goals last season which was pivotal to helping Lorient avoid relegation. And although he may not reach that tally this season with just 10 games left, most likely neither will Lionel Messi,
