Danny Maye of Southampton impressed with Kenyan Youth
The English Premier League side kicked off the one week long training clinic that will see Kenya developmental side gaining experience form the camp.
According to the Southampton Development Manager Danny Maye, he believes that the ongoing training will yield fruits among the Kenyan talents present in the camp.
Maye is spearheading the Southampton technical coaches’ team who are coaching a total of 30 youths who were selected from different parts of the country.
The Youth Development Phase coach Daniel Wright and Academy goalkeeping coach Simon James Locke are among the big names from saints, who are in Kenya.
The clinic that is going down at the Kenya School of Monetary Stidies is meant for talent identification.
“This is an exciting opportunity. We are here to look at the boys and impact some knowledge in them on how to play the Southampton way. At the end we hope what we say to them will help them develop into quality players and hardworking lads,” Maye said
The Saints are in the country as part of the club’s partnership with sports betting firm SportPesa.
Southampton are hailed globally for having one of the best football development programmes in the world, having produced top players like Sadio Mane, Adam Lallana (Liverpool), Theo Walcott, Alex Ox-lade Chamberlain (Arsenal), Gareth Bale (Real Madrid), Wayne Bridge and the great Alan Shearer.
