Chinese Pay Television StarTimes might be the next broadcasters of the Kenya Premier League after SuperSport handed the league a blackout.

While revealing the news about being handed the rights to air the 2018 World cup, StarTimes hinted that they have been watching the unfolding events between SuperSport and Kenya Premier League and they might jump on the opportunity any time soon.

According to Alex Mwaura the StarTimes Public Relation officer they are following closely to see if they can be interested in airing the Kenya League.

SuperSport pulling out of Kenya premier league is something that we are watching keenly though I wouldn’t want to comment on the issue further because we are not part of it,” said Alex Mwaura.

Mwaura spoke during the launch of their acquisition of several rights for the forthcoming FIFA world Cup tournaments including the 2018 FIFA world cup.

However FKF have also vowed to lure back SuperSport who terminated their contract with KPL on grounds of breach of contract.

“We have resolved that it is in our best interest and that of Kenyan football to have SuperSport back on air. As such, the federation has moved to engage SuperSport in order to remedy the situation,” FKF president Nick Mwendwa said.

FKF President Nick Mwendwa held a number of meetings with football stakeholders to try and solve the settlement that caused SuperSport to exit the Kenyan market.

“Met KPL yesterday, met the clubs this morning, now FKF engages SS with view for them to return ASAP ! Let do this together”. Posted Nick Mwendwa.

Despite this Kwese Sports who recently partnered with Safaricom to provide local content, might be somewhere on the list who will replace SuperSport.
