Raila's announcement after Supreme Court judgement

This is it.

Odinga has said that the the decision to uphold Mr Kenyatta's win was due to the pressure exerted to the Supreme Court judges.

"It was a decision taken under duress. We do not condemn Supreme Court, we sympathise with it," Mr Odinga said, minutes after the CJ Maraga led team made a ruling to uphold the October 26 polls.

Mr Odinga, through his adviser Salim Lone, said on Monday that the illegitimacy perception the coalition has created amongst Kenyans has not changed.

“We in NASA had repeatedly declared before this Supreme Court ruling today (November 20) that we consider this government to be illegitimate and do not recognize it. This position has not been changed by the Court ruling,” Mr Odinga said through his aide.

He added: “we do not condemn the Court; we sympathize with it, (because) it was a decision taken under duress” quipping that already the Supreme Court verdict was foreseen.

On Monday November 20, the Supreme Court led by Chief Justice David Maraga, in a unanimous decision, dismissed the petitions challenging the election of President Kenyatta in the repeat poll for “lack of merit.”

The throwing out of the two petitions ushered in yet another phase for President Uhuru Kenyatta’s administration, with the swearing-in fete slated for Tuesday next week.
