Jimi Wanjigi Reveals Details of Uhuru and Raila Meeting Inside His Home

Wanjigi said he hosted the two leaders after the Supreme Court ruling.

Controversial businessman Jimi Wanjigi on Wednesday came out for the first time to reveal his past links with President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto.

Although depicted as a larger than life personality in political circles, Wanjigi rarely is camera shy and rarely makes public appearances. The Wednesday press conference, where he was accompanied by NASA leader Raila Odinga, was his first in his long career as a behind the scenes political operative.

In a statement issued on the lawns of his palatial Muthaiga home, Wanjigi spoke passionately of his personal and political relationship with Kenyatta and Ruto, even revealing that the Jubilee government was formed inside in house.

The billionaire accused the Jubilee government of pursuing a personal vendetta against him over his association with NASA.

“Their government was formed in this home they want to desecrate. They ate with my family in this home and stayed here as they put together,” Wanjigi remarked.

The businessman added that he had brokered a peace deal between Odinga and Kenyatta in the aftermath of the Supreme Court decision in 2013.

“I also want to say after the 2013 Supreme Court verdict, it is this home on Easter Monday, that Baba (Odinga) agreed to come to and shake hands with Uhuru Kenyatta after the Supreme Court had upheld his election.

“It is here that a peace declaration was made and progress made to accept Uhuru’s leadership in 2013,” Wanjigi stated.

The businessman added that the persecution meted on him was caused by his support for the former prime minister, adding that he would not be compromised by the state's intimidation.
