Munya who is also the Party of National Unity (PNU) leader said that following consultations, the decision to support President Kenyatta was in the best interest of the country.
“After thorough consultations with our party members, elders and supporters across the country, it has been agreed that in the very best interest of the country we support President Kenyatta in the forthcoming presidential election,” read the statement
Odinga speaking during an interview on KTN, disclosed that Munya was called (to State House) and blackmailed into going back to support Kenyatta and that he was under undue pressure.
"I have received a message from Munya which told me that he was under a lot of pressure and therefore he had no other choice. I understand and I have excused him," Odinga stated.

We call Peter Munya and Isaac Ruto casualties of the struggle
The former Prime Minister said that Munya's latest move would not dent his candidature in the Meru region as he received a lot of votes in the area while the former governor was supporting Kenyatta in the August 8 elections.
"My support in Meru County is still intact. In fact if anything else, it has increased. Munya has been campaigning for me until Monday until he was called," Odinga added.
He termed Munya and former Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto who last week also rejoined Kenyatta's camp as "casualties of the struggle".
