Kidero breaks silence after losing gubernatorial race to Mike Sonko

Kidero has not appeared in public ever since his loss to Sonko.

Former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero has finally broken his long silence after his gubernatorial defeat to Mike Sonko.

On Thursday morning, Kidero together with Nairobi MPs held a press briefing after a strategy meeting aimed at discussing the way forward and options available for NASA heading into the repeat presidential elections which the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has gazetted for October 17.

Kidero blasted the Jubilee administration and the IEBC for the bungled elections which the Supreme Court said had illegalities and irregularities and consequently nullified President Uhuru Kenyatta's election victory.

The former Governor insisted the election was rigged both manually and electronically resulting in a great injustice to the millions of Kenyans who turned up in large numbers on August 8 to vote.

"It is the responsibility of every Kenyan to chose everlasting peace by electing the best President. Kenyans want justice. Nairobians want justice. You can only have peace with justice," Kidero stated.

He was accompanied by Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris, Makadara MP George Aladwa, former Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama among other leaders.

Kidero has shied away from the public after his defeat in the titanic battle against Sonko.

Soon after he handed over power publicly at Uhuru Park during the Sonko's inauguration, the former governor has maintained a low profile prompting his supporters to wonder what happened to the once most powerful figure at the nation's capital.

Kidero has not accompanied other NASA leaders at the Supreme Court hearings and in several of the Opposition rallies since the ruling.

Most of his die-hard supporters have demanded that Kidero should not only come out to support NASA but also contest Sonko's win in court in the same way Raila Odinga successfully did in his petition against Kenyatta.
