She is now back in the news with a more positive story, she has come out of the closet and can now live her true self in Canada.
The Ugandan-hip-hop queen revealed that she has now been granted Canadian citizenship and is now free to marry.

“My gay ass is free yes free and there will be a wedding you best believe” She tweeted before adding “Thank you Canada for giving me a new home...I feel free like a new person it was a burden to live in a box and walk on eggshells”
Her home country Uganda is known for oppressing gay people and is known for the infamous Uganda Anti-Homosexuality Act of 2014 that was passed by the Parliament of Uganda that criminalised same-sex relations. The bill was dubbed “Kill the Gays” bill as it sought the death penalty for those who were found guilty of homosexuality.
They later abandoned the bill after international condemnation, threats of withdrawal of foreign aid and also the Constitutional Court of Uganda ruled that the bill did not have a required quorum to vote on the bill and was therefore illegal.
Unfortunately, violent homophobia still runs free in the country with shocking stories of forced anal examinations on gay people in hospitals, mob violence and arson according to a report by Sexual Minorities Uganda.
So that is why Keko can finally be herself in Canada without fear of arrest or attacks in her home country.
