Man lynched in Eldoret for sneaking into 79 -year-old granny's room

The man tried to escape through the roof but the crowd caught up with him.

Enraged residents of Chepkanga village in Uasin Gishu County lynched a 35-year-old man who allegedly tried to force himself on an elderly woman.

The deceased is said to have sneaked into the elderly woman’s bedroom and hid under the bed with an intent of raping her.

The granny, aged 79, was woken up by movements in her room and raised the alarm. She ran outside locking the door behind her and yelled, an action that caught the attention of her neighbours.

The man was forced to dismantle the roof of the house and managed to escape but the angry mob that had gathered outside pursued and lynched him.

Confirming the incident, the Eldoret OCPD Richard Omanga said the suspect died as he was being rushed to the hospital.

Mr. Omanga warned the locals against taking the law into their own hands, urging them to hand over suspects to the police instead of meting out mob justice on them.
