My son had an accident at exact spot where SK Macharia's son died - William Ruto

SK Mcharia's son, John Macharia, was cremated on Tuesday at Lang'ata crematorium

Deputy President William Ruto on Thursday night disclosed that his son, whom he didn’t name, had a grisly accident at the exact spot where the son to SK Macharia, John, crashed last week.

Speaking during the memorial service of the late John Macharia, DP Ruto narrated how he reprimanded his son, after he had an accident along the notorious South Bypass in Nairobi, at the time he was driving at night.

“The death of John Macharia has made me learn a big lesson,” he started.

“When my son had an accident at the same spot, I was very mad at him and questioned why he was driving during late hours, however, he narrowly escaped death but John did not,” DP Ruto told mourners.

He added: “I urge the youth to drive carefully along that route.”

Cremated

DP Ruto was accompanied by Opposition chief Raila Odinga in an invite-only burial event at SK Macharia’s rural home in Ndakaini village, Gatanga Constituency in Murang’a County.

John Macharia was on Tuesday cremated at Lang’ata Crematorium. His cremation was a private affair with only his family and close friends in attendance.

John died last week on Thursday at Karen Hospital, where he had been taken after a freak accident on the Southern Bypass.

Police said he was driving his Porsche 911 that collided with a Land Cruiser on the Southern bypass when the accident happened. He was a director at Directline Assurance Company.
