Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko on Thursday night stated that his nomination of lawyer Miguna Miguna was informed by an urgent need to fight off cartels that have frustrated his work at City Hall.
Sonko stated that he was convinced that Miguna was the right candidate to deputise him given that the lawyer has the reputation and credentials of being a champion against cartels.
The flamboyant Governor did not shy away from admitting that he needed help in fighting the cartels that have for years hindered service delivery to Nairobi residents.
“I settled on Miguna Miguna so that he can help me in fighting the cartels. I know that Miguna is the number one ‘anti-cartel’ ,” Sonko stated.
On his part, Miguna has remained ambivalent on whether he would take up the Deputy governor's position, only terming it as a "malicious distraction".
