Confusion heightens in Jubilee after last night's meeting at Weston Hotel

Not yet out of the woods

The meeting held under the auspices of the Rift Valley Parliamentary Caucus, was initially meant to address comments made by Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen against unnamed officials in President Uhuru Kenyatta’s office.

Some reports had also indicated that the MPs wanted to replace Murkomen as the caucus chairman as a way of distancing themselves from his remarks.

However, the joint press statement issued by the MPs did not make any mention of any reprimand issued against the Senate Majority Leader.

It also did not directly address the seeming frosty relationship between President Kenyatta and the DP.

“We cannot be loyal to the Jubilee family, its leadership and founding values while at the same time condoning retrogressive, destructive, and divisive agendas."

"This commitment calls for vigilance and total rejection of all elements, ideas and attempts to undermine the vision, or sabotage our leadership, or divide our people,” the statement read in part.

The meeting at Weston was also attended by Cheranagany MP Joshua Kuttuny who was among rebel MPs who criticised Murkomen's earlier comments during a heated interview at Citizen TV.
