Sports Cabinet secretary Hassan Wario has warned all Kenyan athletes who are heading to different camps against the use of the prohibited drugs during their training.
According to Wario all the athletics camps will be put under strict watch by the Government and the Anti-doping Agency of Kenya (ADAK) to ensure all athletes adhere to the rules put in place.
Wario warned that agencies and coaches managing these camps, that they will be put under strict supervision to avert doping in the country.
“All the local athletes involved in doping would suffer a four-year ban in addition to prosecution by the authorities,” said Wario.
He added that Kenya can’t suffer anymore over doping under his watch and therefore he will do everything to ensure Kenya is represented by clean athletes.

“Clean athletes would be protected while those entangled in doping would be exposed and humiliated,” said Wario.
However, Wario who was presiding over the launch of Adak’s four-year strategic plan said that cheaters will be exposed irrespective of their world status.
“Their agents and coaches who will be found in the menace will be brought to book. I urge all sports federations to abide by the new ADAK’s strategic plan that will help Kenya.” Said Wario.
According to Wario the government as set aside Sh2 billion to ensure Adak becomes a major anti-doping agency in the country.
The launched Adak’s strategic plans revolves around four pillars that involves compliance with the World Anti-Doping Code, Education and Research, Testing and Investigations and lastly Therapeutic Use Exemptions.
This is coming days after Olympic marathon champion Jemimah Sumgong failed a drug test.
