The 33-year-old striker already holds many records, and is currently on the verge of adding more in his storied career.
Gyan holds the record for the most goals by an African in the history of the FIFA World Cup – six goals in three editions (2006, 2010, 2014).
He is also Ghana’s all-time top scorer with 51 goals in 106 appearances and stands as the country’s most-capped player as well.

The Kaysrispor forward has played in every AFCON since 2008, and is gracing his seventh successive AFCON tournament.
As it stands, Gyan has scored in every edition he has featured in, equalling the record of Zambian legend Kalusha Bwalya and Cameroon icon Samuel Eto'o.
And should he score in Egypt, he will become the first player ever to score in seven successive editions of the AFCON.
Meanwhile, the former Sunderland man has played 29 matches at the AFCON, which also stands as a national record in Ghana.
He will be hoping to have a good tournament as Kwesi Appiah’s men go in pursuit of glory in Egypt.
