Good news for owners of StarTimes decoder ahead of the 2018 World Cup

StarTimes has acquired rights to air World Cup matches during the 2018 FIFA World Cup that will be held in Russia.

The world cup is just part of the 280 matches from six FIFA tournaments lined up  and set to be broadcast by the Chinese pay television that is making inroads in the African market with more sports programs on its bouquets between May 2017 to July 2018.

Following the acquisition of exclusive rights, Kenya and Sub Saharan Africa sports lovers will have a chance to watch all the all the 64 FIFA World Cup matches live from Russia June 16 and July 15, 2018.FIFA under 20 World Cup, which is set to kick off in May 20-July 11 this year will be the first to hit the screens followed by FIFA Confederations Cup 2017 (June 17 – July 2, 2017), FIFA U-17 World Cup 2017 (October 6– October 28) and FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup scheduled to kick off  in April 27 to May 7. FIFA Beach Soccer tournament will pave way for the 2018 FIFA World Cup  which will kick off on June 16 to July 15 2018 and will be followed by the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup  and FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup 2018 in that order.While making the announcement, StarTimes Vice President Mr. Mark Lisboa noted that the acquisition of these media rights will enable more Kenyan households enjoy access to the prestigious tournaments.Besides these new acquisitions, StarTimes also have exclusive rights for the German Bundesliga, Italian Serie A as well as the Chinese Super League.StarTimes has dedicated five sports channels that will broadcast the respective tournaments including two High Definition channels-Sports Premium and World Premium as well as Sports Arena, Sports life and Sports focus.

The company’s subscribers will be in a position to enjoy these prestigious tournaments from as little as Ksh 500 per month where subscribing to basic bouquet, Classic or Unique bouquet that retail at Ksh 4, 999 and 1,499 respectively, will enable households to access to all the live matches and more.
