Okumbi replaces dropped players ahead of the internationally friendly

Harambee will be hosting Malawi at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos come April 18th.

Harambee Stars head coach Stanley Okumbi has made minor changes to his team ahead of the international friendly match against Malawi.

Okumbi has made a few changes in his squad that will be entertaining Malawi dropping 5 players and making replacements for those not available.

Harambee Coach had dropped five players for failing to show up for the first day training.

Boniface Oluoch, Musa Mohammed, Harun Shakava, Ernest Wendo and Kenneth Muguna faced the axe from the national squad.

FKF called up seven new players to take up the position of those absentee in the team. Omar Mbongi who is out for studies and Paul Kiongera injured were also replaced.

Those who were called up to fill the spaces are

Ulinzi Stars duo of James Saruni and Brian Birgen, as well as Victor Majid, GFE 105’s Zeka Wakoli and AFC Leopards’ Ian Otieno have been called up as replacements. Victor Ogedo of Nzoia Sugar and Thika United’s Shami Mwinyi have also been called up.

Noah Wafula will join the team later as he has been allowed time off after his son’s demise.

“As you are aware the National team Harambee Stars is set to play Malawi on April 18, 2017 at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.In light of the aforementioned the team reported to camp on Sunday, April 9, 2017 and has so far had three training sessions two yesterday and one this morning'.Further, Coach Stanley Okumbi has moved to replace five Gor Mahia players who were unable to report to camp due to club engagements.”, FKF Statement.

Malawi are expected in the country this coming Sunday, April 16, 2017 at 1820hrs.
