Kenya volleyball legend Janet Wanja has announced her retirement from the National team Malaika strikers bringing to an end her 17 years career in the volleyball world.
Wanja who has been a key setter in the Malaika Strikers reveled the news of her retirement after the just concluded Africa club championships in Tunisia.
Wanja who earned her first call to the national team in 2000 during the summer Olympics has aided Malaika to fly high at different levels.
"I am done with the national team," said Wanja
Her retirement came in days after the National team had started preparations for the Federation of International de Volleyball (FIVB) World Prix.

"For now am still playing for my club, Kenya Pipeline but for the national team, I am done. I will not go even if I receive a call up," added the talented Janet Wanja.
During her time at Malaika Strikers Janet Wanja managed to bring home a number of trophies.
Janet managed five Africa Nations Championships, three All African Games and World Grand Prix title in 2025- a first for an Africa team and five appearances at the World Championships with the African Queens.
"We had been told earlier that our services will not be needed in the national team and I don't want to rub shoulders with other people." Said Wanja
