The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) on Monday announced a drastic reduction of electricity bills after they scrapped the Sh150 standing fee charged on power consumers in the country.
The ERC further announced a 36 percent reduction in retail tariff charged on domestic consumers.
The changes will see Kenyans access significantly cheaper electricity with the cost of power moving from Sh17.77/KWh in 2017/18 to Sh16.64/Kwh 2018/19.
The reduction of retail tariff will take effect from July 1st while scrapping off of the standing charge will be implemented from August 1st 2018.
