Dear short man, you may be finding it hard to attract women in a world where height is really a big deal when it comes to dating.

Many women prefer tall(er) men. In fact, anyone with a dating check list will have the “Must be tall or taller than me” on the list. But then again, height is relative. What’s short to you may be tall for someone else and different people like different things when it comes to love and dating. Still, a man below 5’9 is not considered tall, but that’s average. Anything below 5’5 for a man is considered short. So, as a short man, how can you make your dating experience less of a hustle? Let me give you the low-down:

1. First things first, you need to accept yourself and not get defensive about your height.

Unfortunately, there’s not much you can do about your height. But, it’s not the end of the world. Confidence and self esteem are key. The problem with most short men is that they try to get so defensive or even talk themselves down - the short man syndrome. Since they lack the height, they try to compensate with other things and can come off as aggressive or trying way too hard and that’s a turn off. All you need is to love yourself as you are and have a fuckload of confidence!

2. Command attention, the good kind.

So let’s say you’re at a house party and want to talk to some girls and well, you’re probably the shortest man in the room. That’s fine. What you need to do is develop a sense of presence. Be charismatic, charming, watch your body language, make eye contact. If you talk to a woman, make her feel special, let her remember you as that charming guy she met at the party. You need to be a magnet. A likeable person. Tom Cruise is only 172 cms tall yet, nearly all women find him incredibly charming. Height is never a big deal, unless of course you’re dealing with immature women.

3. Ditch online dating.

The problem with online dating is that you can be anyone you wanna be online. You can put up photos that make you look like a tall man. But what happens is that when you meet these women and they discover that you’re actually short, it may come off like you oversold yourself. Instead, meet people in real life scenarios, where it’s a case of ‘what you see is what you get’.

4. Date women who appreciate you.

I can guarantee you that you’re not single because of your height. Like earlier mentioned, different people like different things. While there are women who prefer tall guys, there are others who may not mind short guys. At the end of the day, if a woman will judge you based on your height, then is that someone you would even want to be with? Also, don’t lock yourself out by only going for girls your height or shorter than you. Heck date a woman taller than you. What’s the big deal? Kevin Hart, Peter Dinklage and many more have done that. A real woman will love you for you, not your height. If you really want a shorter woman, you can consider dating Asian women as they’re super tiny!

5. Work on all aspects of yourself.

Besides being charming, dress the part too. Avoid contrasting colors as they distract the eyes and draw attention. Instead, go for the monochrome look or colors of the same hues. Also, make sure they’re well fitting and carry yourself with confidence and charm; that's how to be a chick magnet.
