Kaitlyn Dever portrays 18-year-old Marie, one of the main sexual assault victims. Although her full name is not public, it's known that Marie was the real woman's middle name, and court documents identified the 18-year-old raped by Marc OLeary , as D.M., per the Denver Post . She told police she was threatened with a knife, tied up, blindfolded, and raped in her apartment. She was subjected to multiple interrogations, and later recounted her sexual assault accusation. It took years before detectives brought her attacker to justice.
You'll recognize Kaitlyn as Amy in Booksmart. The actress also grew up playing Eve on Last Man Standing.

Unbelievable's Detective Karen Duvall, a.k.a. Detective Stacey Galbraith in real life, is the detective who encountered another rape accusation from a 26-year-old student. In the series, she works with fellow detective Rasmussen on an investigation of multiple similar rape accounts around the Denver area. Eventually, they connect them and get justice for Marie and imprison her rapist, Marc O'Leary.
Merritt had the ongoing role of Zoey Barkow in Nurse Jackie. She also won a Primetime Emmy Award her supporting role as Mary Agnes in Godless.
