Nairobi county Council is preparing to pull down billboards around the city that are advertising gambling.
This follows a directive from the Interior Ministry which banned outdoor advertising for gambling companies.
The move may precede a stakeholders meeting scheduled to take place on May 20, 2019 chaired by CS Fred Matiang'i.
The directive from CS Matiang'i was issued on Thursday after a consultative meeting with the Betting Control Licensing Board.

Regulating gambling advertisements
A statement from Dr Matiang'i outlines that the ban is one among measures that have been proposed to regulate the gambling industry in Kenya.
"The report outlines a raft of regulatory mechanisms geared towards sanitizing the industry and ensuring that gambling does not become a source of disorder.
"Some of the regulations include, banning of gambling on out door advertising and social media; advertising gambling between 6 a. m. and 10 p. m. as well as the endorsement by celebrities in gambling advertising. The regulations take effect immediately.
"Any form of advertising will also have to be approved by the board and contain a warning message which must constitute a third of the actual advertisement," the statement read in part.
