Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has ordered the closure of three roads within Nairobi CBD as part of his regeneration project.
Accra Lane, Gedi Lane and Banda Street will be closed as the county conducts Sh24 million renovations that will see the sections converted to one-lane roads.
Roads and Transport Minister Hitan Majevdia explained that the Governor had approved the plane following a successful process of upgrading Luthuli Avenue.

"After the successful trial on Luthuli Avenue, the Governor has approved three more streets for immediate upgrade," the CEC conveyed.
Contractors warned by Governor Sonko
Governor Sonko, has however, warned the contractors that there will be consequences if they provide substandard services.
"Luthuli has to be in good condition for at least 10 years before we start thinking of renovations. That means the work should be up to standard. The same goes for the other streets," he stated.

Gedi Lane is currently being utilized by R.O.G. Sacco matatus as a terminus and is also used by other matatus plying the Jogoo Road route as a less congested exit out of the CBD.
