Form One students can apply for school transfers through the Ministry of Education National Education Management Information System (Nemis), Principal Secretary Belio Kipsang has confirmed.
Speaking on Monday, the PS explained that the application for transfer of schools should be done by school heads.
According to the PS, when the school principal logs in to the system and clicks on the learner's profile he can process admission as well as transfer at that point.
"The details of the students will appear indicating that the student is selected to join the school," the PS narrated.
36,000 requests on Reporting Day
The PS revealed that 36,000 transfer requests had already been lodged by students seeking to transfer as they were scheduled to report for admission on Monday.
Parents have raised concerns over the placement of students where they have been posted to far-flung counties.
Transfers will also apply to students such as Josephat Seth Imai from Busia who was placed at Kapsowar Girls High school yet he is male.
His father Charloz Okisai, relayed that he had been instructed to ask the principal of Butula Boys High School to process his son's admission.
