Why NASA politician stormed EACC offices as war on corruption goes a notch higher[Video]

Several prominent personalities including Kidero and Swazuri have so far been arrested

The latest wave of arrests made by Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has attracted reactions with former Kwale County gubernatorial aspirant Chirau Ali Mwakere storming EACC offices.

Mwakwere arrived at the EACC offices shortly after Dr. Mohamed Swazuri was arrested and taken to integrity center for alleged irregular land compensation for land acquired during the construction of SGR.

Mwakwere disclosed that he had received numerous calls from home (Kwale) urging him to follow up on the arrest and establish the whereabouts of Swazuri as well as his safety.

“I just got phone calls from home that Mohamed Swazuri is held somewhere in Nairobi…so I have come to confirm whether he is here or not, whether he is safe or not I want to know why he is being held..I am interested to know what is going on.” Mwakwere said.

“I’m a Kenyan and if there is any Kenyan with a problem, it is my right to know what that problem is. I come from Kwale and if anybody from Kwale has a problem I have to know what that problem is.” He added.

Mwakwere who resigned from his post as Kenya’s envoy to Tanzania lost last year’s gubernatorial race to Jubilee’s Salim Mvurya.

Swazuri is among the 17 who are wanted over the scandal that saw the public lose millions in irregular compensations in Kenya’s largest infrastructure project.

He will be produced in court to answer to answer to charges o corruption and economic crimes.
